What the source shows
A blinded study reported changes in symptoms, walking function and corneal nerve fibers. A later randomized phase 2b study in 64 people mainly supported nerve-fiber measures; pain improvement was not statistically significant versus placebo.

Research gaps
- ·The small, narrowly defined studies do not establish healing of nerve damage in general or long-term benefit and safety.
- ·Short profile: not a complete benefit–risk assessment. Unlisted contraindications and interactions are not adequately established in this profile; missing information does not establish safety.
Mechanism
The approach targets the innate repair receptor and tissue-protective erythropoietin-related signaling without conventional stimulation of blood-cell production; this is a mechanistic rationale, not proof of broad clinical benefit.
